Weekend Away

Joe's Grandpa and Wanda were up in Fremont recently for a visit and we got to join them at Chuck and Cindy's for quite the exciting weekend. Beginning with one of these:
An airboat tour of the Platte River. So, SO fun! Court may not have been to sure at the start...
 Luca was ready...
But then we told her she had to wear ear muffs....
She did adjust once we got going and had a great time
We went at sunset in perfect weather, it was beautiful! The owner of the boat was a great guide, giving us a lot of stories and insight along the river. We saw bat caves, a bald eagle nest and got to splash around near the dunes. Court was in heaven wading with Daddy.
Court was a little trooper wearing Luca's sunglasses to keep the wind out of his eyes and looking seriously cool in ear muffs. We held his hands to keep him from throwing his accessories but he was really very relaxed throughout the ride.
At one point on the river, our guide began to churn up the water with sharp turns, circling round and round. I thought it was just to spice things up (you know, see if he could toss anyone overboard) but as we looked behind us, giant Asian Carp began jumping out of the water. It was like being in a National Geographic shoot. There were so many, so close and a few almost made it into the boat but only one succeeded. They were huge!
Silliness,

Supper and smores on the beach afterwards...
The next morning we went to Omaha Doorly...
Amazed by the brilliant color on this bird
 Court was digging the Javelinas
This Fairy Duster bush made me a little nostalgic and homesick for Arizona...
The weekend caught up with the babies on the car ride home. They hardly stirred when we transferred them to bed and took very good naps along with most of the grownups. (Excepting Cindy, Wanda and I who scored big time at the Fremont Goodwill. It was fantastic)
In closing; a little eyelash envy.

Oreos To Please the Court

Mommy gave me oreos. What a good Mommy.
Yep, got all of that white stuff.
I need another oreo Mommy!
Eat the brown part? What?

That's very funny Mommy, now get me another oreo.

My Mommy can't resist this chubby, smiley, brown-eyed smile.

Fair Weather

Last summer we traveled to Grand Island for the State Fair, we rode a few rides with Luca, did the petting zoo and wandered the exhibits. Ever since then, if we ask Luca about the Fair, she excitedly recounts the bus ride that shuttled us from the Walmart parking lot to the Fair entrance. That's all she remembered. So, this summer we decided to attend the Fair that is only ten minutes away and the admission is free. Just in case. We met up with Max, Jen, Naomi, Sarie, Isaiah and Isla and, as happens so often to us, we just happened to run into the Daharsh's there too. Luca had her two best buds and all the cousins along so the Fair was a big hit. She's asked to return several times since then.

The three muskateers deciding which ride looks the best...
there was much much giggling...
3years old going on 13...
CHEESE!
Court and Naomi, stroller buddies
Watching a horse show. Shortly after this picture we saw a Llama show, or maybe they were Alpacas. Interesting.
The horse barns = Happiness.
Even more happiness....the tractors.
A gigantic John Deere sporting twelve (yes, TWELVE) of these tires.
Our little munchkins posing...
Our little munchkins......in real life
Bean Girl
I'm not sure...
Court in a bobcat? Well, of course!
We also wandered the petting zoo, the chicken-rabbit-goat-cow barn, ate giant corndogs and toasted pecans, bumped along a little roller coaster and soared away in the ferris wheel. All in all, a fine day at the Fair!

Snapshots of Life...

 Bean-Girl posing with Mommy....
And the Bug wanting in on the fun too...
Taking the truck for a stroll...
Purple potatoes that I got at the farmer's market thinking that Luca would be impressed. She wasn't. (I however, think they are so cool!)
My little artist. Markers and paints continue to be her favorite things.
Another coloring session, with her baby napping on the floor next to her.
A yogurt incident.

Partial remains. Eighteen beautiful tomatoes were destroyed in two days by the neighborhood squirrel posse. Joe bought me a pellet gun. The posse has since lost six of it's members and my tomatoes are coming around nicely.
Luca's favorite snack from Trader Joe's. We always run short on "O"s.
Ahhh...drought. Can you tell which part of the lawn I gave up on?
Court modeling his favorite new accessory
The sweatband is a souvenir from this fun day:
"Rooooaaaaaarrrrghhhhhh!!!!"
