This and That

This spring we ordered some mulch, the kids just finished the pile off this morning. Okay not really, but when I saw them eagerly filling the wheelbarrow one tiny hand trowel-full at a time I did think that it would take months at their rate. Such good little helpers! And the picture still makes me smile.

Estes Park 2013: Day 3 (Somehow forgot to publish this post...)

For Day 3 we took Trail Ridge Road across the pass to Grand Lake. The vistas were incredible, I loved the change in terrain. We saw lava cliffs, snow fields, elk and so many amazing forms of rock and vegetation.

We stopped at the Continental Divide. Very cool.
This is on the Pacific side draining to the Pacific Ocean.
Who can resist a snowbank in June?
Court threw many a snowball at Mommy
and then warmed his chilly hands on his tummy.

Snowball fights can wear a boy out. Good thing he has a Daddy with strong shoulders!

On another mountaintop, we got out to see the elk...
...and stretch our legs.
I want to go to this lake but after consulting the map, there are no trails in to, around or anywhere near it. Makes me want to go even more!

Another mini hike on the way.

It was rather cold up here and we left our hoodies in the truck...

Silly face picture! (Luca wasn't as into this as the rest of us.)

Back into the car, we arrived in Grand Lake just in time for lunch. And a game of "Kiss an elbow" (Court finds this hilarious. We don't know why.).

Then to the water! And although it was cold up on the pass, it was hot and sunny on the beach.

And again, asleep while eating. Our drive back was very quiet.

Back in Estes we had enough time for a stroll along the river before sunset.
