My Bonny Baby

Five months old! I can't believe how big she is, cute she is, confusing she is, smart she is, funny she is, lovable she is! Everyday it seems she tries something new. Miss Bean has become a very mellow little girl. She's willing to lay on my lap and even let me read a chapter or two, as long as her tummy is full and I let her pummel the binding. (I've learned to read moving pages). We're also getting very good at sitting up, Bean Style, which is arms spread wide and lots of emphatic sighing. She's still digging the cereal, we've ventured into new grains and will soon be adding veggies. However, she seems to think that you can't dine without singing and keeping your fingers in your mouth. (see pic) I've tried holding her arms down but she throws a fit. If anyone has any advice here, I'd love to hear it! I don't particularly enjoy mealtime right now as it is also "clean cereal out of hair/eyes/neck/toes/chair/clothes/table/mommy time". Hopefully it's just a phase! This Mommy is on a mission to get in shape and Luca has been quite helpful. She is content in her stroller (as long as I swaddle her first), she's been a trooper in her new hiking pack and she gives chastising looks whenever I start eating sweets. Okay, maybe the looks are really curiosity but if I pretend that she's disapproving, it helps me put down the chocolate. The exersaucer is intriguing (thank you Mishelle!) and she loves to slowly rotate, stomping her feet and tasting each plastic attachment. Now here are some pictures from the Bean's portfolio:

Just chillin'. She's very into pulling up one pant leg while lounging. It's her gangsta look.
The Purple Monster says "Whaaaaas-up?!?!?!"Baby toes! Oh to be so flexible! She prefers this trick sans jammies so that she can chew on her feet. Only when you're less than a year old is this cute, after that it's just disturbing. Her look says "What? I didn't do it." but she did, in fact, do it.

I guess Tyson blogs with me a lot because he saw the pics and said "BABY LUCA!" She is a doll. Oh, and no advice for the feeding time but I would say more messes are in your future. :)

She's adorable! I love it. And, the fact that you put her on your counter in her bumbo is for sure not "typical" for a first-baby Momma. That means you're relaxed which is good! ;)

Loved seeing all your Luca pics--it brings back fond memories or my "Marissa and Mommy" days. ;o) She's a dollie.

Wow - five months already...crazy! I see the fingers in the mouth being an issue with Hugh...so, I am glad you get to figure it out first :)!

I love the glass on the floor. so "how life really is". about the hands, nope. . . babies will be babies. they're exploring and learning. As she gets older and it's not so new she may begin to stop, or maybe not. You could try changing the consistencey. Charlize cooperated better when the consistencey was just how she wanted it.

Just wait until she wants to hold the spoon! I think that those mats they sell that go under the high chair are probably your best bet! Noah's favourite thing to do right now is flail his arms while food is coming towards him! Kelly says he got the cat the other day! She is such a sweetie! And five months? Wow were DID the time go....

I can't believe she is 5 months either, that went fast!! You are very relaxed, which is a good thing. She is so cute, and her hair getting longer makes her look so much older. Adorable!!
